Diagram explaining the deep double closure

Revision hair transplant

A second operation that behaves like a first

Careful calculation lets us make an ideal wound in the first operation and reach zero shock loss.

Because healthy hair sits directly above and below that wound, a second operation can include the scar in the donor area and still yield more than 80% of the hair.

Deep Suture

Deep double closure

Closing only the surface leaves a hollow

Rather than closing the surface alone, we take the extra step of closing the deep dermis in two stages with absorbable suture.

A wound closed only at the surface looks fine from outside while being hollow underneath.

Less dead space means more donor

The double closure reduces dead space so that follicular tissue sits against the wound without gaps, which lets the tissue around the scar serve as donor area for the second operation.

A good wound from the first operation makes the second one easier. Today’s surgery decides the next one.
